Turning Gratitude Into Celebration for All

Shukar Hai aims to showcase the transformative power of effortless giving. We empower people to make an impact and remember those of us who may not have much while reimagining the act of giving not as an obligation but as a celebration of gratitude, community, and connection.

The goal is to drive sustainable social change while building a platform that today’s generation trusts by partnering with individuals and organisations dedicated to driving impactful and important societal change.

How it Started

I draw a lot of inspiration from the people around me, and often, it’s the simplest words that leave the deepest mark. I was 14, walking to my neighbourhood masjid. It's a short 7-minute walk that requires crossing a small park. Usually uneventful. But one day, I found myself walking behind two kids who were in a heated exchange. They couldn’t have been older than 8 or 9 years old.

Boy 1: “You’re rich!” Boy 2: “No, you are!” This went on for a while—each insisting the other was richer—until one of them finally said, “No, you’re rich because you eat chicken kaleji. Chicken kaleji—liver—is one of the most economical protein sources in South Asia. ...

Back then, a kilo of chicken cost around 80 to 90 rupees, just over a dollar. Kaleji was even cheaper, often sold as leftover parts, affordable for most but still a luxury for many. When I got home, I told my mother about what I heard. And for the first time, I truly understood the privilege of choice—the privilege of being a picky eater. That simple moment changed how I viewed food, class, and the concept of gratitude. Fifteen years later, when I started my venture, I knew it had to be rooted in that same sense of purpose. A reminder that a good meal can feel like a celebration. A dawat. A rare moment of joy for someone who rarely gets to choose what they eat. That’s where Shukar Hai began.

Meals of Gratitude is Shukar Hai's first offering: a celebration of being grateful for whatever we have today. Whether it's having a good meal, being able to sleep peacefully, or simply being alive, gratitude transforms both the giver and the receiver. We create meals from premium sources of protein, including chicken, mutton, and beef, using our family recipes or invite chefs to transform these meals, then deliver them to our partner schools for community building and more.

About Osamah Nasir

I’m a content creator based in Karachi, Pakistan. My work revolves around uplifting Pakistan’s image through storytelling—highlighting Karachi’s hidden gems, celebrating women’s empowerment, and showcasing the city’s rich multicultural spirit.

Both my parents dedicated their lives to service—my mother as a doctor and my father in education. They spent their careers building better communities, and their values profoundly shaped my path.

The idea for Shukar Hai was born from that same spirit. With roots in Delhi, our family has always had a strong connection to food—it’s how we express joy, love, and togetherness. My parents’ community-driven mindset, combined with our shared passion for food, made Shukar Hai feel less like a project and more like a natural extension of who we are.

Professionally, I bring over 8 years of experience in advertising and tech, having worked across the MENAP region and Central Europe. Now, I’m excited to channel all that into something that creates real impac locally.

Through Shukar Hai, I aim to spark joy, share meaningful stories, and serve my community in ways that truly matter.
